Salaam Al Shaksy Chief Executive Officer Dubai Banking Group

Salaam Al Shaksy was previously the Deputy CEO of Bank Dhofar and played a key role in its repositioning and expansion after its merger with Majan International Bank. He has more than 21 years of experience in commercial and investment banking in Oman, and earlier, in Dubai. Before starting his banking career, Mr. Al Shaksy has also served in senior positions in both public and private sector companies in the fields of finance and information technology.

An Omani national, Mr. Al Shaksy has a BA in Economics, an MBA in Financial Services and an MSc in Management Information Systems from Boston University, USA. He also completed the Senior Executive Programme at London Business School.

Marwan Al Khatib Managing Director Dubai Banking Group

Marwan Al Khatib taps on the immense growth opportunities within the Islamic investments space with particular focus on the Shari'ah lifestyle including financial services, halal food, Islamic hospitality and real estate. This is in addition to exploring the opportunities in the private equity and the public equity space.

Previously, Mr. Al Khatib was the Director of Islamic Banking at Dubai Financial where he was responsible for building the Islamic banking portfolio with particular focus on South East Asia. He enjoys over 15 years of experience in the fields of corporate finance, audit and risk management, strategic business planning, and corporate banking; with blue-chip companies such as Al-Futtaim Group, Mashreq Bank, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.

Mr. Al Khatib holds an MBA degree in Banking and Finance from Hull University in the UK and a BA degree in Business Administration and Computer Science from the American University in Cairo. He is also one of the regularly invited speakers at Islamic finance conferences.

Darius Framroze

Darius Framroze Executive Director Dubai Banking Group

Darius holds a B.Com (Hons) with majors in Economics, Law, Accounting and Auditing and is also a Chartered Accountant. He has over 25 years experience in the financial services industry with multinational and regional financial institutions. He began his career with ICICI in India, from where he joined Banque Nationale de Paris in which he held various senior management positions in its international network including the Middle East and France.

He subsequently moved to Lazard Group in India and was the CEO of Lazard CreditCapital Asset Management Co. which he helped set up as the first private sector asset management company in India alongside IFC and Edinburg Fund Managers as shareholders; and was also the managing director of its underlying mutual funds.

Moving back to the Middle East, he joined National Bank of Oman as head of investment banking. This was followed by a move to Oman National Investment Corporation Holding (ONICH) as their Chief Investment Officer, where he was substantially instrumental in turning this effectively bankrupt company around to become the leading investment holding company in Oman. Darius was a nominee director of ONICH on a number of its investee companies including National Life Insurance Company SAOC, Al Ahlia Insurance Company SAOC and Oman Orix Leasing Company SAOG.

Uday Bhasin

Uday Bhasin Executive Director Dubai Banking Group

Before joining Dubai Islamic Investment Group, Uday Bhasin was a Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers within their advisory and transactions business focusing on Banking and Capital Markets. He has more than 11 years of experience advising leading financial institutions across Europe, Africa and Asia, and was actively involved in the recent acquisition of ABSA by Barclays Bank.

A Kenyan National, Mr. Bhasin holds a BA in Economics from the University of Manchester and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Anand Ramani Vice President – Islamic Investments Dubai Banking Group

Anand Ramani’s areas of expertise include identifying strategic investment opportunities, conducting detailed due diligence reviews, business planning and valuation.

A chartered accountant by profession, Mr. Ramani has more than 10 years of work experience including eight years in the banking industry, with vast experience in the areas of financial controls and strategic investments.

Mr. Ramani began his career with Fraser & Ross, India, in their Audit and Assurance division. He later joined Bank Muscat, India, as Head of Financial Controls. Before joining Dubai Islamic Investment Group, Mr. Ramani was the Senior Manager - Strategic Development with Ahli United Bank, Bahrain; and Country Manager - International Operations with Bank Muscat, Oman, where he was responsible for identifying overseas strategic investments and M&A opportunities.
