Sayanta Basu

Sayanta Basu Chief Executive Officer Dubai Financial Group

Sayanta Basu is responsible for the overall strategic vision of the company, which focuses on the identification and acquisition of financial services companies, to build long term value through state-of-the-art governance.

Mr. Basu has been a part of Dubai Group since September 2000, leading both the investment and the corporate strategy of the Group. Before his appointment as CEO of Dubai Financial Group, he was responsible for running Dubai Group's entire private equity and hedge funds portfolio, investing in top managers for the last two years.

Mr. Basu has more than 17 years of experience in investment management, treasury and strategy, and has also worked for Reuters and Citibank in Dubai.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management.

Harpal Dugal Managing Director – Consumer Finance Dubai Financial Group

Harpal Dugal's focus is banking and consumer finance investments. Before joining Dubai Group, he was CEO and Managing Partner of Polaris/Optimus Outsourcing Co. Ltd, where he built a pipeline of potential deals with an estimated cumulative initial business value in excess of US$ 8 million over a 12 month period.

Previously he was Chief Executive, India, for Standard Chartered Bank where he was responsible for the vision and strategy of the consumer franchise, resulting in the second biggest profit opportunity for the group globally. He was also responsible for consolidating retail and credit cards into consumer banking, as well as introducing electronic delivery channels and distribution.

A banking professional, Mr. Dugal has worked on multi-million dollar transactions in the Asian market. He started his career with Citibank, holding senior positions in consumer and corporate banking operations, in both India and the Philippines.

He holds an MBA in Finance from the Indian Institute of Management.

Jon Cimino Managing Director - Exchanges Dubai Financial Group

Before joining Dubai Group,Jon Cimino spent seven years managing his own boutique investment banking business. He structured the business to target small to medium sized companies or projects in transactions worth less than US$ 500million.

A noted industry veteran in his native New Zealand, he has advised on several mid- to large-sized transactions, including strategy for the New Zealand Stock Exchange and in the role of Lead Manager for its IPO..

Mr. Cimino started his career with UBS Warburg when it was a share broking partnership through to 1987 when Potter Warburg purchased a 50% stake, and eventually until UBS Warburg took over the balance of both the Australian and New Zealand businesses in 1995. He has held several positions at UBS Warburg including Head of Research, Head of Institutional Dealings and Head of Corporate Finance.

He has degrees in Economics and Finance from the Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand.

Waleed Alhashemi

Waleed Alhashemi Chief Financial Officer Dubai Financial Group

In his role as Chief Financial Officer, Waleed Alhashemi has the overall responsibility for finance, treasury, operations, and administration. Before joining Dubai Group, Mr. Alhashemi was the Director General of Financial and Administrative Affairs - Ajman Government, at the Ruler's Court in Ajman.

His previous positions include Director of Customs Affairs Department at the Federal Customs Authority in Abu Dhabi,and Chief Accountant at Etisalat.

He holds an MSc in Accounting from the University of Colorado at Denver.
