Hussain Al Qemzi

Hussain Al Qemzi Group CEO Noor Investment Group

A seasoned banker with over 26 years of extensive experience working with leading financial institutions in the UAE, Hussain Al Qemzi now helms the Noor Investment Group and its flagship entity Noor Islamic Bank as Group CEO. With proven expertise in corporate and consumer banking, he has proved his mettle in quality and operations control and strategic planning.

Earlier, Mr. Al Qemzi was the Chief Executive of Sharjah Islamic Bank and a former Board Member of Dubai Financial Market (DFM), and Dubai International Financial Exchange (DIFX).

Mr. Al Qemzi also served as Chief Operating Officer of DIFC, and is credited with laying the ground for a world class financial centre.

Dr. Ahmed A. Al Janahi Group Executive Director Noor Islamic Bank

Dr. Ahmed Al Janahi has more than 22 years of banking and insurance experience in senior and executive positions with commercial and investment banks in Bahrain and Kuwait, and 15 years of experience in Islamic investment banking.

Before joining Noor Islamic Bank, Dr. Al Janahi was Chief Executive and Board Member of Investors Bank, Chairman and Managing Director of Takaful International and Member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Bahrain Islamic Bank. He has also held senior executive positions in Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, Al Baraka Investment Bank and International Investment Group.

During the last few years, Dr. Al Janahi had a key role in advising on the financial structure of deals for multi-billion dollar infrastructure projects based in the GCC and Malaysia. During this period, he also played an advisory role in the setting up of two Islamic financial institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and spearheaded a bid for a second license telecom operator in Bahrain.

Dr. Al Janahi has played an instrumental role in the Kingdom of Bahrain where he was responsible for introducing the first 24-hour banking branch for the public and the first 7-day branch service for an insurance operation. He has actively been part of many Boards in diverse fields such as real estate, airlines, telecommunications, and banking and insurance; in various markets.

He holds a PhD in Strategic Management from the University of Bradford (United Kingdom), an MBA from the University of Bahrain (Bahrain), an MSc in Project Management from the University of Reading (United Kingdom), and a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the University of Plymouth (United Kingdom).

Ahmed Kalim

Ahmed Kalim Deputy Group CEO Noor Investment Group

Ahmed Kalim has more than 15 years international banking experience spanning across North America, South Asia and the Middle East. Before this, he was the Chief Information Officer at Sharjah Islamic Bank. He started his career in the United States, then relocated to Citibank N.A. Pakistan.

Mr. Kalim is highly experienced in commercial banking support service functions, from service and quality, audit, compliance and risk to operations and technology. He has experience in setting up two greenfield commercial banks, in addition to his present responsibilities of helping manage Noor Islamic Bank.

Walid Koubaa Group Executive Director Noor Investment Group

Walid Koubaa has more than 15 years of experience in different banking fields in the Middle East and Africa, and a specialisation in the consumer banking area. Before joining Noor Islamic Bank, he was the General Manager of Wealth Management at Standard Chartered Bank in the UAE, where he managed a team of 160 employees in the wealth management division responsible for mass, middle and priority customers. This included the departments of liability, bank assurance, priority banking, treasury, and the business-unit service team.

Mr. Koubaa has also held the position of Group Head of Retail Banking in Sharjah Islamic Bank where he was responsible for establishing the Bank’s retail banking business through new product development and structural planning, the development of the marketing plan, and the establishment of the call centre; and for directly managing a team of 130 employees. In addition to his experience in the full spectrum of consumer banking, he has developed and launched a brand campaign for x bank and successfully managed a re-branding initiative for x bank.

Amongst other positions, Mr. Koubaa has headed the consumer business at Citibank, North Africa; and the cards and distribution of Gulf Bank in Kuwait. He holds a Bachelors in Economics from the University of Sciences and Technology of Lille (France).

Eric Stoclet

Eric Stoclet Group Executive Director Noor Investment Group

Eric Stoclet has more than 28 years of experience, 25 of those with Citigroup. Before Noor Islamic Bank, he headed a multi-functional team working out a US$* 2.5 billion portfolio of German mortgage NPLs acquired for US$* 1.5 billion by a proprietary investment unit of Citigroup.

Until June 2006,Mr. Stoclet ran the lending and real estate advisory businesses for Citigroup Private Bank’s European booking centres with offices in London, Geneva, Channel Islands, and Milan. After joining Citigroup in 1982, Mr. Stoclet moved to Citicorp Real Estate, then in 1993, he joined Loan Structuring, Syndications and Sales where he gained the mandates on, structured and syndicated over US$ 40 billion in loans.

Samy Ben Jaafar

Samy Ben Jaafar Group Executive Director Noor Investment Group

Ben-Jaafar is responsible for Treasury and Asset Management/Private Equity. He has 11 years experience, mostly at Citibank, in New York, Sub-Sahara Africa, MENA, and London. At Citibank, his positions included regional Director, Investment Finance; VP, Portfolio & Risk Management; and VP, Corporate & Investment Banking.

Ben-Jaafar has structured and facilitated significant investments in the emerging markets, particularly in infrastructure development & utilities, transportation, consumer goods, distribution, agro-foods, and textiles. Mr. Ben-Jaafar also managed some of Africa’s largest institutional investors.

Ben-Jaafar holds an MBA and a BBA from Canada’s Simon Fraser University; his Master’s thesis was on portfolio modeling
